I convinced myself that it was the perfect arrangement. He wasn’t looking for a commitment and I wasn’t in a position to give him one. That was already promised to someone else.   
 
We might have agreed to keep things simple, but sometimes rules are destined to be broken.   
  
He told me he would give me Whatever I Need. How can I bring myself to tell him what I need is for him to let me go?

EXCERPT

“So…” She gestured for me to sit down on the couch. I was disappointed when she took the seat opposite of me. “How did you know where I lived?”  
 
I cleared my throat and sat up straighter. There was no sense in lying, so I told her the truth. “I looked up your information from the police report.”  
 
“Ahh,” was all she said, and I was grateful she didn’t seem too bothered by that.  
 
I pulled on the back of my neck, trying to relieve some of the tension. “Look, I know we weren’t supposed to see each other again, but I really enjoyed my time with you that night. And then when I saw you the other day,” I grinned, hoping she found it just as amusing as I did, “I knew that I needed to seek you out.”  
 
She crossed her legs, and suddenly memories of them wrapped around my back had my zipper straining against my pants. “Why is that?” she asked, drawing my attention up to her face.  
 
“Well,” I coughed, “I’d like to think that we both had a good time that night, and I’d like to do that again.”  
 
She looked appalled at that suggestion. “So, you illegally gained my address, which I’m pretty sure goes against policy, and thought it would be a good idea to show up at my home unannounced and ask for a booty call?”  
 
My eyes widened. “Shit, that came out wrong. I’m sorry, Amelia. What I’m trying to say is that I’d like to see you again.”  
 
“With or without my clothes on?” She challenged me with a pointed look.  
 
Was that a trick question? Judging by the way her blue eyes were turning icy, I’d say not.
